Installing Word press on windows within 5 minutes using wamp server

Every time when we start a new blog or a Website using Word Press, we like to have a local copy of it in our computer for easy access and to make any changes or to find errors in our computer itself than finding and correcting it online. So for that purpose we use Wamp Server. Now this article will tell you step by step procedure to install, configure the wampserver and include Word Press in it and start creating your website in the local host without need of an Internet connection.

Requirements:

  1. Operating system
  2. Wampserver
  3. Word press

 Step by step procedure:

  1. First to download the latest version of wampserver from http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php
  2. Double click the downloaded wampserver file and then click on ‘Next’.
  3. Select the “I accept agreement” and click ‘Next’.
  4. The default path for the install of Wamp Server is “C:\wamp”. You can change if you want by clicking the ‘Browse’ button or leave it as such and press ‘Next’.
  5. Select additional icons (if we want) and click ‘Next’.
  6. Click install and continue with the installation. Please wait until the setup installs the Wampserver in your computer.
  7. Please choose your default browser to which the wamp server will be associated. But if you are not sure what you have to do, then just click ‘Open’.
  8. ‘Unblock’ the Windows Security Alert if it asks us. Just leave the default values as such for the “PHP Mail Parameters” and click “Next”. Click “Finish” to exit the setup.
  9. Now you will see a “speedometer like icon” on the notification area of the taskbar. Just wait for sometime; so that the speedometer is green it represent full ready.
  10. Now Download the latest version of word press from http://www.wordpress.org/latest.zip
  11.  After downloading, extract the files. Click the wampserver icon and select “www directory”. A folder will open. Copy and paste the WordPress files in to that folder.Image may be NSFW.

  12. Now Again  click the wampserver icon and select “PhpmyAdmin”. Select “privileges” from top menu. Click on “Add a New User”. Enter your username first.
  13. Select the Dropdown box next to Host and choose “Local” from it.”Local host” will be displayed automatically in the next box. Type the same password in the third and fourth options. In the next “Database for user” select ” Create database with same name and grant all privileges”. In the “Global Privileges” click on the “Check all” option and then Press “GO”.
  14.  Now you should get a “You have added a new user” message. Select the “WordPress” under “your projects”. Click on “Create a configuration file” and then click on “Let’s Go”. Enter the value of database name, username and password (which you give before in the PhpmyAdmin). Please remember the database name and the username are the same in our configuration file. Don’t touch the “Database Host” and “Table Prefix”. Leave it as such and press “Submit”.
  15. Now click on “Run the Install”. Enter your blog title and e-mail. No need to select the box which says “Allow my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Technorati” since this is a local install.
  16. Now click on “Install WordPress”. Now Note that password carefully! It is a random password that was generated just for you. And press “Log in”. Now Login inside the WordPress using the username “admin” and the password you get from the previous step.
  17. Now you will see a reminder notice to change your password as below.
  18. Now click on “Yes, Take me to the Profile Page”. Here you can choose your own password along with colour schemes, display name, biography etc.. And click “update profile”.
  19. Now you can use this WordPress Installation as same as the one you are having online. You can write posts, install themes, test-drive plugins and most probably everything you can do in this local install of WordPress. When Finished, Right click on the Wampserver icon and click “EXIT”.
  20. Before using word press always you start the wampserver.
